Texas
There were plenty of classic TX oil rigs working away all over the landscape.
Texas passed in a blur and so did the sign for New Mexico. Oops!
This is from google maps of the landscape on eastern New Mexico. These are aerial shots of irrigation circles but they look like art.
With Levi’s interest in volcanoes, he chose an extinct
volcano as one of our New Mexico stops. Because of covid, the visitor center
was closed. No big deal because we were there for the volcano. But they also
closed the road to the top. Ah! Trails were open and you were welcome to hike
the road. So we hiked up a volcano…all the way up…. Two miles up a mountain.
No idea how these deer got all the way up here over the ten ft walls all along the road, but there they are.
On to day six!
And we made it. Barely.
After a 6hr in the car and a hike up a volcano, we were ready to call it a night, so we got a hotel room in Las Vegas! Wild huh! OK, fine. It was in Las Vegas New Mexico and we needed to do some laundry and restock our food. Pizza delivery was a nice bonus.
